Rodolphe Louis Emmanuel Réal de la Chapelle
Born on 25 November 1754 in Lausanne (Switzerland), died on 25 January 1837 in Besancon (Doubs).
Rodolphe Real de la Chapelle enters French service in Erlach regiment in 1770, he reaches the rank of Captain in 1791. Discharged in 1792, he serves in Bern regiment von Wattenwyl. He returns to French service in 1799 as Captain in the 1st Helvetic Half-brigade. Allowed to take retirement in 1805, he is recalled on next 18 July as Deputy-Colonel of the 1st Swiss Regiment and serves in Corsica, in Italy and in Naples where he is awarded Knight’s cross of the Order of the Two Sicilies on 16 July 1811.
He becomes Colonel of the 1st Swiss Infantry Regiment in December 1812 and takes part in the campaigns of 1813 and 1814.
After the abdication, he keeps his command and is awarded Knight’s cross the Order of Lys on 28 July 1814, Knight’s cross of the Legion d’Honneur on 24 August and Knight’s cross of the Royal and Military of Saint-Louis on next 1st November. Rallied to the emperor during the Hundred Days, he is made to take retirement at the end of 1815.
