François Dominique Perrier

Born on 3 March 1746 in Estavayer (Switzerland), died on 3 May 1820 in Estavayer.

François Perrier enters in French service on 28 January 1765 as Cadet in Diesbach regiment, he is promoted to Quartermaster on 27 May 1782. Promoted to Captain he is awarded Knight’s cross of the Order of Saint-Louis in 1791. Dismissed with his regiment at Lille on 10 September 1792, he takes command of the troops dismissed in France but kept by Fribourg Canton until 1st July 1797. Promoted to Brigade-chief when French troops enter in Helvetia on 13 February 1798, he is appointed in command of the 1st Helvetic Half-brigade on 25 January 1799 and takes part in the campaigns of 1798-1799 in the Army of Helvetia under command of Massena, and that of 1800 in the Army of Italy under command of Moreau and Augereau.

Appointed as Colonel of the 4th Swiss Infantry Regiment on 12 September 1806, he is allowed to take retirement on 20 March 1810 and is awarded Knight’s cross of the Legion d’Honneur on next 10 September.

After the abdication, he is awarded Knight’s cross of the Order of the Lys on 19 November 1814.
