Philippe Augustin Le Rouvillois
Born on 11 March 1756 in Bricquebec (Manche), died on 17 September 1819.
Philippe Le Rouvillois volunteers in Colonel-General regiment (5th Dragoons) on 12 September 1774. He is promoted to Corporal on 12 June 1782, Sergeant on 1er September 1784, Quartermaster on next 14 December Sergeant-Major on 22 January 1792. He becomes Second-Lieutenant on next 10 March, he takes part in the campaigns of 1792 in the Army of the Nord and of 1793 in the Army of the Ardennes. Lieutenant on 1st May 1793, he is promoted to Captain on next 1st October. He moves in 1794 to the Army of the Rhine and in 1795 to the Army of the Moselle, campaigns in 1796 and 1797 in the Army of Italy, distinguishes himself during the Brenta crossing and at Bassano and becomes Major on 7 January 1797. He serves in the Army of England in 1798 and takes part in the expedition in Belgium in 1799 against the Insurgents of United Department.
He serves in 1800 in the Armies of the Rhine and of Helvetia and is appointed Brigade-Chief of the 22nd Cavalry Regiment on 4 February 1800. Employed in the Army of Italy in 1800, he takes command of the 1st Hussars Regiment on 26 February 1803 and is transferred in the Army of the Coasts of the Ocean from 1802 to 1804. He is awarded Knight’s cross of the Legion d’Honneur on 11 December 1803, et Officer’s cross of the Order on 14 June 1804. Colonel Rouvillois takes part in the campaigns of 1805 and 1806, in Austria and Prussia, with the 1st Division of the 6th Corps of the Grande Army and is awarded Commander’s cross of the Legion d’Honneur on 25 December 1805. He is allowed to take retirement 6 January 1807.
