Infantry regiments

Infantry regiments of the norwegian army were either regiments known as « enlisted » (geworbene Infanteriregiment) or regiments known as « national » (nasjonale Infanteriregiment) with conscript strength.
In 1809, all grenadiers companies were disbanded and elite companies then only composed of light infantry.
The companies’ strength was the same as in Danish army. Each battalion was reinforced by an artillery battery manning two 1pdrs gun.

Before 1810 :
Both enlisted regiments were composed of one enlisted battalion with eight musketeers companies and two national battalions with six to eight musketeers companies. Each regiment was reinforced by two enlisted grenadiers companies.
The eight national regiments were composed of two to four national battalions each of six to eight musketeers companies. Each regiment was reinforced by two enlisted grenadiers companies.

After 1810 :
The number of enlisted regiments was augmented to three. They were composed of two enlisted battalions with one light and four musketeers companies each and two national battalions with one light and five to seven musketeers companies each.
The number of national regiments was reduced to five. They were composed of two to four national battalions with same strength as those in enlisted regiments. Each regiment was reinforced by one enlisted light and one enlisted musketeers companies. Some regiments had light infantry units attached (see light infantry table below).
