Fusiliers chasseurs

1806 Further to imperial decree of 15 September the regiment of Fusiliers Chasseurs of the Guard is raised. Their strength comes from the Velites’ battalions of the Chasseurs à Pied. Together with the regiment of Fusiliers Grenadiers they form the Middle Guard.

1814 With the First Restoration, regiment is disbanded and men incorporated in the line.

Fusiliers

  • Dark blue habit with white pointed lapels, dark blue collar, scarlet pointed cuffs with white edging, scarlet turnbacks ornamented with light orange grenade devices and hunting horns. Vertical skirt pockets simulated by a scarlet piping. White epaulettes with 2 longitudinal green stripes.
  • White waistcoat and breeches, high gaiters white in summer dress, black in winter dress.
  • Black shako emblazoned with a stamped copper crowned eagle, white chevron, cord and flounders. Green plume with white top inserted in a tricolour cockade.
  • White leather-work. Black leather cartridge pouch. Brown haversack with white straps and rolled blue coat.
  • Sabre of Infantry pattern, white swordknot with green tassel. Musket with brass fittings.
