9th Dragoons Regiment
Raised in 1673, the Lorraine Dragoons Regiment is renamed as 9th Dragoons Regiment in 1791.
The 9th Dragoons joins the Army of the Alps in 1792 and 1793 and the Army of Italy from 1793 until 1797. He is then transferred in 1798 to the Army of England, in 1799 to the Army of Helvetia and from 1799 til 1801 to the Reserve Army.
The regiment joins the Grande Armée for the campaigns of 1805 and 1806 and fights in the 2nd Dragoons Division (general Beaumont) of the Reserve Cavalry Corps and takes a glorious part in the battles of Wertingen. For the Polish campaign in 1807, he is trabnsferred in the 3rd Division (general Milhaud). Posted in Spain in 1808, he fights at the battle of Talavera.
On 18 June 1811, the 9th Dragoons Regiment is recalled in France to be converted in 4th Light Horses Lancers Regiment.

Standards
In 1804, each squadron is granted with a standard of Challiot type. One of these standards is given to 4th Lancers Regiment when created.
