3rd Dragoons Regiment
The Bourbon Dragoons Regiment raised in 1649 is renamed as 3rd Dragoons Regiment in 1791. It takes part in the campaigns of 1792 to 1796 in the Army of the North, of 1796 to 1798 in the Army of Italy. Assigned in the Army of the East, it distinguishes itself at Abukir and Alexandria. Back in France in January 1801, it is garrisoned inside French frontiers until 1804. It takes part in the campaigns of Austria, Prussia and Poland in the Grand Army. Posted in the Observation Corps of Gironde at the end of 1807, it serves in Spain and Portugal from 1808 until 1811.
On 18 June 1811, the 3rd Dragoons Regiment is recalled in France to be converted in 2nd Light Horses Lancers Regiment.

Standards
In 1804, each squadron is granted with a standard of Challiot type. One of these standards is given to 2nd Lancers Regiment when created.
